Luke the Frisbee® Dog

Bob Evans and Luke were the 1998 World Champion Frisbee® Dog Team. Here are just some of Luke's other accomplishments:

2001 UFO World Cup Champion 1st Runner Up! Luke accomplished this amazing feat when he was over 11 years old finishing just behind his son, Nick.

1998 World Champions!!  Bob and Luke won the 1998 Frisbee® Disc Championship in Washington, D.C.  The photo shows Luke winning the 1998 Championship.

Bob and Luke are one of only two Frisbee® Dog teams to win 6 consecutive trips to the World Finals in the 31 year history of Canine Frisbee® Disc Championships.   (The only other team to win six consecutive trips is Bob and Nick, Luke's son).

In 2004, of the 12 finalists in the Eukanuba Ashley Whippet World Finals, 4 of them were Luke's offspring (Just think, 1/3 of the final field were Luke's offspring).  WHAT A GREAT DOG!!

Bob and Luke appeared on The Donny and Marie Show, The Today Show, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, A&E, ESPN, FOX, Good Morning Texas, Good Day Dallas and made many TV appearances across the U.S. They also performed in many exhibitions across the U.S. from Florida to New York to California with shows at the Cleveland Browns, the Denver Broncos, the Dallas Burn, the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, the San Antonio Spurs, the Carolina Panthers, the Texas Motorplex and others.

Luke was an Australian Shepherd who learned to play from his dad, Dan.  Luke was the proud papa of Nick, the dog with the winningest record of all time.  Luke was also the father of Hurricane (Susan Markham), Lexie (Paul West), Sky Cody (Chris Gardner) and the grandfather of Tucker (Paul West).  What a Great Dog!!

Luke was born September 30, 1990 and died October 23, 2007.  Luke brought much joy to many, young and old, for 17 years.  Near the end Luke's eyesight dimmed, his legs slowed and his hearing  faded but he was still a great companion.  Luke officially retired from major competition at AWI in 2004.  Luke caught discs in all 48 contiguous states, Washington D.C., Canada and Mexico.  Luke's most recent performance was at Texas A&M Vet School Open House in April of 2007 where he still showed some of his stuff... although a lot slower.

Luke, I miss you and I will always remember you.

Luke was  a lifetime member of the Dallas Dog & Disc Club ("DDDC")  www.dallasdogndisc.com and he lives on in the DDDC logo shown to the left.    If you are interested in learning more about Frisbee® dog activities, finding events, training tips, meeting times, and other great info, please check out DDDC's web site by clicking on the links above or by clicking on the spinning DDDC Logo to the left.  (The dog on the DDDC Logo is actually Luke!).  See more pictures of Luke at "Pics."
